Q. Is it legal for
you to buy and sell human bones? A. Yes.
Q. Really????? A. Yes, really. There is
no federal law that prohibits the possession or
sale of human bones. However, I can not be
certain of the laws at the local level.
Therefore, you are responsible for knowing your
local laws before ordering from Psykic Ossuary
Arts. I understand that Georgia and Tennesee
have laws forbiding human remains from being
imported or exported across their state lines.
Q. Do you take international orders?
A. Unfortunately, no. At
the moment I am not that familiar with laws
regarding exporting natural items (especially
human remains) to other countries, so in the
interest of caution, I am going to restrict
sales to within the United States.
Q.
Where does someone go about getting human bones?
A. See my Links page for my suppliers.
Q. You are a horrible, horrible
person! A. Ummm. . . . . that's uh, that's
not really a question. That's kind of just
hurtful. However, I am going to assume that the
reason you said that is because you are
concerned with the morality of using human bones
in artwork. I think the concern here is the idea
that I am making things out of people.
Personally I do not think that is the case. I am
not making things out of people, I am making
things out of the vessel the previously
contained a person. Whatever made them human,
whatever made them a person like you and me, is
not in their bones. But let us suppose for a
moment that it was, that a persons essense and
consciousness is still attached to their
physical body after they die. Would you rather
spend eternity inside a very small box
underground? Would you want to be hidden in some
forsaken place to help train cadaver dogs to
find corpses? Would you want to be displayed in some corner of a natural history museum to
be stared at by school children on
field trips? Or would you prefer
to be made into a necklace that would
adorn some hot goth girls bosom while she goes
out clubbing?
